All Around a Good Textbook
I was happy with my purchase of this textbook. The book has a standard format where each chapter begins with the learning objectives of the chapter followed by topics, subtopics, case studies, ethical dilemmas, and a chapter review. Though the content of the book can be complicated, the writing is straight forward, and the case studies do a good job of reinforcing concepts in the chapter. The design of the book is in style with other textbooks, mixing text with an ample number of tables, graphs, and charts. Definitions of the key terms are always listed in the margins.Additionally, I was impressed with the construction of the book. With approximately 1100 pages, including the appendices, the font of the text is small enough to provide a substantial amount of information on each page while being large enough to read comfortably. The pages are thin enough to reduce the weight of the book without being so thin that highlighting bleeds through to the other side of the page. (I really hate when the highlighting bleeds through!) Also, the binding of the cover is well constructed. Sometimes when textbooks are heavy, transported frequently, and read often the pages can separate from the cover of the book. This did not happen. (Though I did add some clear tape to the cover for insurance)The textbook is approximately 8 1/2" x 11", weighs approximately 4 pounds, and it is almost 2 inches thick. It will take up a healthy chunk of space in your backpack. My humble advice: if you like to highlight text and tag pages, buy more pens and post-its.
